Our FMS Bookworms competed in Battle of the Books or BOB last week. The Bookworms answered 100 questions over 10 books which was no easy feat. With over 30 teams competing in the tough 5-8 category, FMS did their best and represented our district well! A big congratulations goes out to these students: Jacob, Nancy, Tristen, Vishal, Avery, & Taryn!

Over the past few weeks, 8th graders have been studying and evaluating children's books for the purpose of creating their very own book.
This week, their projects came to fruition when their teacher, Mr. Drish and our school librarian, Mrs. Miller, took them to Washington and Pence Elementaries to read their finished books to our younger students.
Amazing work to our 8th graders and our teachers for their collaboration!

FMS, this week we are celebrating Mental Health Awareness, including some special dress up days. See the photo for details about each day!

We are excited to see their finished products!

Due to weather concerns, Keokuk has decided to CANCEL tonight's (May 2) MS Girls Track meet.
Amazing job to our middle school band members at their final concert of the year on Tuesday! Their growth this year has been incredible. We are lucky to have such great musicians and supportive families there to enjoy the concert!
Special shout out to our band director, Danae Coleman! Mrs. Coleman is a Fairfield graduate and we have been so lucky to welcome her home this year and have her serving our students at FMS.
A special big thanks also to the families who helped get tables and chairs back in place after the concert. Many hands make light work, and it takes a village to keep our school running. We're grateful to everyone who transforms our space in such a short amount of time!

Please join us in honoring Mrs. Graber by walking Chautauqua Park on Saturday, May 10th from 10am - 12pm.

The 5th graders in Mrs. McHugh's class and Ms. Alexander's class held a mock trial in their classrooms to go along with their argumentative unit. The 5th grade students will be going to the Jefferson County Courthouse on May 23rd to hold a series of three trials for their final project, so their classes set up their classrooms to simulate what the courtroom will look like so students can get a sense of what it will feel like. Lots of fun things are happening in 5th grade ELA!

The 5th graders in Ms. Copeland’s class have been learning about matter and what molecules make up the matter. They worked on chemical properties this week and learned what happens when combining different substances.!

🎉 Teacher Appreciation Week is almost here! 🍎

These donations will help us create gift baskets and fun surprises for our hardworking teachers and paraprofessionals! 🧺💖
📅 Donations are needed by April 30
📍 Drop-off at the FMS front office or contact us to arrange pickup! Let’s come together as a community to celebrate the heart of our school — our TEACHERS and PARAPROFESSIONALS! 🏫💛
