Our first community Leader In Me event happened today! This is something that we have planned for all year, and we were so thrilled and excited for such a successful day. Over 100 student leaders helped to pull this event off today!
During this event we had over 80 guests and over 30 local businesses represented. Students signed up for these leadership roles and created their own scripts and presentations. We were so proud of their hard work.
Students discussed an overview of the seven habits of highly effective people, our successes with morning trojantime groups, and other great things happening the FMS. Following the student presentations our student tour guides took our community members around the school on a tour of the school and into classrooms. It was a great event and huge success.
Our goal for this event was to showcase what awesome work our students are doing as well as to bridge the gap between our community and schools. We have an outstanding community and lots of opportunities for our students to explore.
We want to thank all the community members who came out to visit today!

Our student leaders have been working hard to prepare and practice for this huge event. We are super excited for tomorrow! More to come!

While doing school walkthroughs, Officer Anderson caught two students doing great things! Ireland and Taryn were both given gift cards for McDonald’s!
Ireland - has been seen picking things up around the school and keeping things neat and safe for the students and staff.
Taryn- started a petition to get a volleyball net for 5th grade recess. She got all of the signatures she needed along with the new net.
Great job ladies! Keep leading by example and keep up the good work!

Kohda is on fire right now in Trojan time. This past week we revisited our goals for the rest of the year. Kohda took this to a whole new level and really imagined his future self. We talked about this with habit #2 with begin with the end in mind. Kohda did a fabulous job outlining his ultimate life goal and setting an action plan on how to get there on a day-to-day basis. Super proud of your hard work and your great thinking!

Can’t say enough about this young man. Cylas is always caring for others. When walking down the hallway he always takes the time to stop to say hi and how are you. Thank you, Cylas, for being a great leader and caring for others! We appreciate you! 👏

Elliott and Austen are doing fantastic in the classroom. They both were recognized with a student shout out by their teachers for doing great work! Whoot! Whoot! 👏 Keep it up!

Earlier this fall, 5th grader Taryn Roemen came to Mr. Jones and asked him if the 5th graders could get a volleyball net for their recess area. Mr. Jones thought this was a great idea, but wanted to be sure there were enough 5th graders interested in having a volleyball net, and also wanted Taryn to learn something in the process. He challenged her to start a petition and get signatures of all the people who supported the idea. Taryn took a few days and returned with over 50 signatures - from students AND staff! So, Mrs. Atwood ordered a nice volleyball net, and we just had to wait for a decent day to put it up. Today was that day! Mr. Jones and four 5th grade students put it up just east of our building. It looks great, and we hope students can enjoy it!
We want our students to learn that their voice matters! Adults do listen to you! We are proud of Taryn for having an idea, speaking up, and taking action to make it happen. She showed passion and perseverance.
In "Leader in Me'' language, Taryn exhibited habit 2 "begin with the end in mind" and habit 8 --> "find your voice." She had a mental creation or idea, and then took steps to make it happen. She also used her passion and gifts for communication as well! Thanks to Taryn for the idea, and to all the people who signed the petition. Finally, thank you to Jordan Miller, Olivia Manning, Taryn Roemen, and Raylinn Roll for helping Mr. Jones put up the net!
