Q: How long will it take to pay off the bond?

A: The repayment period will be determined by the Board of Education during bond sales. Typically, general obligation bonds have a term of around 20 years, but this can vary.

There are also options to structure the bonds to allow refinancing for better rates or early payoff. With a previous bond, FCSD retired the debt more than 10 years earlier than originally scheduled.
