Way to go, Bryce! He has been saving his classroom money rewards that they can earn for showing Trojan pride expectations! He has been saving his money for over 30 days. Today he was rewarded with lunch with friends. Their faces say it all!

The Fairfield Kiwanis Club provided 100% of the funding needed in order to purchase LifeVac devices for all four school buildings and the ACT Center. Pictured are our two school nurses, Heather Miller and Alicia Roop, receiving one of the devices from Kiwanis member and school counselor Jay Thompson. Multiple devices are located throughout each of the buildings to provide a rapid response option should a child or adult choke on an object. The device is a one-way suction device that is replaced for free if ever used to rescue someone. The FCSD thanks the Fairfield Kiwanis Club for their generosity and for their care for our students!

We had an awesome field trip today! Students even got to see representatives that finished their session an hour before we arrived, and Governor Reynolds as she signed a bill. Pretty awesome day today!

These students are testing their model cars to test them for distance and speed. They were give a set of tasks to complete with expectations. They have worked hard on these cars problem-solving and critically thinking to make the best model 🏎

5th Grade ELA has been researching controversial topics! We started by researching if Chocolate Milk should be served in schools or not. Students learned how to research both sides of an argument, suspending their personal biases, before deciding which side they agree with. We then moved on to the next controversial topics, where students got to choose which one they wanted to research. Should we support or boycott zoos? or Are youth extreme sports worth the risk or not? Students researched both viewpoints for their topic, and then participated in a debate against their classmates! We emphasized how debating with someone is not arguing, but more of a persuasion. We also discussed how using the Leader In Me Habit #5 (Seek first to understand, then to be understood) plays a huge role in debates. Listening first, before responding appropriately. Students did a fantastic job debating on these issues!

Bryce worked hard with our parent teacher organization to count money and fill the vending machine today. We appreciate his leadership in working collaboratively with our PTO organization. Way to go, Bryce!

Lana was able to participate in Iowa Wesleyan's Special Olympic Unified Sports day. What a great experience! Lana did an amazing job! Way to go 👏

Melanie Carlson noticed Hermione Lebert, Dylan Brown, and Treveyon Wilson crossing Hwy 1 very safely the other day. They were making eye contact with the crossing guard, looking more than twice, following directions, being very good leaders and role models.
Melanie got them gift certificates from the Dairy Bar!
Way to go Treveyon, Dylan, and Hermione!
