As we approach the final days of the school year, we are excited for several fun and meaningful events coming up at Fairfield Middle School!
This Friday, we will celebrate our annual Mental Health Day. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle and sunscreen, as we will spend portions of the day outside. The day will not follow a traditional class schedule. Instead, students will spend time in Trojan Time, celebrate the Senior Walk, enjoy outdoor activities, and finish the day with an assembly.
On Monday, May 18, our 8th graders will participate in Step Up Day at Fairfield High School. Special Education students will travel to the high school at 10:00 a.m., while all remaining 8th grade students will head to FHS after lunch, with all students returning around 3:00.
Current 5th-7th grade students will also soon be filling out a form indicating elective preferences for the upcoming school year. Please take time to discuss these choices with your student so selections best fit your family’s needs and expectations.
Next year’s 6th graders may choose:
* Band
* Choir
* Both band and choir
* General Music
Next year’s 7th graders may choose:
* Band
* Choir
* Both band and choir

Next year’s 8th graders may choose:

As the end of the year quickly approaches, please also take time to check at home for any remaining library books and iPad chargers. Please note that chargers returned must match the brand and style originally issued to students at the beginning of the year.
Thank you for your continued support as we finish the school year strong!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Marten
Principal, Fairfield Middle School
Friday will be our special Mental Health Day—a day to relax, connect, and have some fun together as a school community. We’ll wrap up the day with a school-wide assembly.
And the fun doesn’t stop there—Friday night is our Outdoor End-of-the-Year Bash from 7:00–9:00 PM!
We can’t wait to celebrate with our FMS students and finish the week strong! 💚

Reyna Gonzalez, Abbigail Beggs, and Hannah Giberson earned 1st place with their presentation of The L.O.V.E. Project, beating out teams from nine other schools across Iowa.
Their project focused on making our community skatepark a safer, more welcoming place for everyone. The students researched the costs of removing graffiti and vandalism, explored ways to support families and young skaters, and worked to include the current skate community in positive solutions for the future.
Not only did these students identify a real community need, but they also created a thoughtful plan to help make a difference. Their hard work, teamwork, and leadership impressed the judges and earned them top honors at the conference.
Next, the team will present their ideas to the Beautification Committee as they continue working to improve our community.
Congratulations to Reyna, Abbigail, Hannah, and Mrs. Bradfield on this outstanding achievement — and good luck at the next meeting!

If students are currently participating in a spring sport, they should attend those commitments first and then join softball practice afterward when they are able, depending on their schedules and any meets or events.
At this time, this invitation is specifically for 8th grade girls. Additional middle school practice opportunities will be shared at a later date from MS softball coaches.
