Megan and her daughter

Meet Megan Hines - Washington First Grade

This is my 7th year teaching in the district and currently teach 1st grade at Washington Elementary. I grew up in Fairfield and attended Washington Elementary as a child. My senior year I did the work study program in a 1st grade classroom and loved it! This is what made me want to become a teacher! I graduated from Iowa Wesleyan with a degree in Elementary Education and an Endorsement in Early Childhood  and later went on to get my Masters in Elementary Administration. I spent my first 7 years of my teaching career in Missouri (5 years in Kindergarten and 2 in 1st grade) before moving back to Iowa. This is my 7th year teaching in the district (3 years in Preschool and my 4th year in 1st grade).

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my daughter Brooklyn and my family. I also enjoy sewing, quilting and crafting for my small business Megan Hines Designs. I volunteer as a 4H leader and coach youth Volleyball.

The things that bring me joy: My daughter Brooklyn, My Students and making others happy!

A parent reached out and said the following about Megan, “Myson's reading has really improved in her class. He's starting to sound out words, and just the other day read "oxygen," which was written on the board in a high school classroom. He came out of KG with great skills, and this growth is a testament to the great work ALL the teachers at Washington continue to accomplish.” Thank you, Megan, for being a part of our team. We appreciate you!
