The Class of 2023 received in excess of $300,000 awarded to students at the Senior Awards Program in May 2023. The scholarships are administered or sponsored by the Greater Jefferson County Foundation and many local individuals, businesses and service organizations.   Most of these awards, with the addition of several new scholarships, are available again this year. The awards vary from $250 to $5,000 and are given as either one-time amounts or as renewable scholarships.  Many are open to any student, without regard to the applicant's intended field of study, while others are for students who may intend to pursue  careers in a medical field, business, teaching, fine arts, engineering, mathematics or vocational or agriculture related fields.   The criteria for applying also vary and may include, but are not limited to, academic record, community service, participation in activities and financial need.
