Dallas Carlson continues his Esports success outside the arena
Earlier this year, FHS ESports Club member, Dallas Carlson, was selected as an esports scholarship winner through the NASEF "Beyond the Game Challenge". The club was proud to announce that he was the first esports scholarship winner in the school's history. By the end of the school year, Carlson marked another notch in his belt. ByteSpeed Computers in conjunction with Gravity Gaming offered a scholarship contest to high school and college students. The students were asked to submit an essay expressing how their lives were effected by being a member of a school esports team.
Esports coordinator had spoken with the respresentatives from ByteSpeed who were very impressed and moved reading the submitted essays. There were over 150 entries submitted. Dallas made it into the top 15 runners up. The top six students received a gaming laptop. With the quaility of the essays that were submitted, it was decided to add a package for the other runner up submissions. Dallas was one of these students. Below you will find the tweet that was put out about the scholarship winners.
Dallas was an active member of the FHS Esports Club playing HearthStone, Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Killer Queen Black. He also was more than happy to share his knowledge of the titles and the game play with his fellow students as was all mentoring his coaches.
In the fall, Dallas plans to attend UNI and is currently looking into participation with their esports team on campus.
