The Broadway Players of Fairfield High School will present The Addams Family -- a New Musical Comedy on the last two weekends in April. Music and lyrics are by Andrew Lippa and the book is by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice. This show builds on the Broadway Players’ theme for the year: Every Family is a Little Bit . . . Different!

Mark your calendars now; you don’t want to miss it! The public will have four opportunities to enjoy this exuberant and spirited new musical. Performances will be April 20, 21, and 28 at 7:30 in the Fairfield High School auditorium. There will also be a 2:00 matinee on April 29. Ticket prices are $8.00 for general admission and $10.00 for reserved seating. Tickets are on sale now! Tickets may be purchased in advance in the Fairfield High School office or at the auditorium box office prior to each performance. The box office will open one hour prior to the performance.

Based on the original comic by Charles Addams, the Addams family lives in a quirky world where their unique, centuries-old traditions and values are the most important part of life. Gomez and Morticia, the patriarch and matriarch of the clan, assume their way of life will continue for centuries to come. In the upside-down world of the Addams Family, to be sad is to be happy and pain is joy.

Nonetheless, these eccentric parents have to tackle the same challenges faced by any family including the most frightening one of all: the Addams kids are growing up!  Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has fallen in love with Lucas Beineke, a respectable young man from Ohio — the most un-Addams person one could be! Everything will change for the whole family on the evening they host a dinner for Wednesday's "normal" boyfriend and his parents. In one rollicking night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face up to the one horrible reality they’ve managed to avoid for generations: change.

Portraying Gomez and Morticia Addams in the Fairfield High School production are Brittan Bowman and Phoenix Haessler. Peculiar Uncle Fester is played by Jackson Brown. The roles of siblings Wednesday and Pugsley Addams are filled by M Aven Gottshall and Harper Fiske. Crotchety Grandma Addams is played by Alex Holden. David Wallingford portrays tall, dark, and kooky Lurch the butler. The completely normal Beineke family is played by Gunnar Mattson (Mal), Alyson Reid (Alice), and Andrew Alonso (Lucas).

The story opens outside the Addams family crypt. Their ancestors come out to visit on one special night each year. The Addams lineage includes a Viking, a saloon girl, a conquistador, a flapper, a World War II Army nurse, and a Titanic non-survivor. Playing the Ancestors are: Cherie Anderson, Aaron Austin, Ellie Baker, Amber Burroughs, Dallas Carlson, Emma Carlson, Izzy Ferrell, Julia Fritz, Madelyn Hanna, Michael Hunt, Laurel Hilger, Ahillan Kumar, Amiritha Kumar, Mitchel Melvin, Mira Pappin, Claire Pettit, Michel Putnam, Allison Rebling, Calista Rowe, Tessa Seibert, Jakob Watson, and Gabriel Zimmer.

The Stage Manager for the production is Abyni Garner.
