FHS HOMECOMING - POUND THE HOUNDS
Fairfield Community School District’s Homecoming Week begins on Monday, Oct. 3rd with a Pep Assembly at 1pm in the HS gym to introduce the Homecoming King and Queen Candidates. The FHS Student Council has announced the Homecoming Theme to be “POUND THE HOUNDS”.
The Student Council has also announced the dress up days. Monday is “Pajama Day”, Tuesday is “Tacky Tourist Day”, Wednesday is “Mismatch Day”, Thursday is “Dynamic Duo Day”, and Friday is “Orange & Black Spirit Day.” This year we would like to challenge the businesses in town: Dress up for Homecoming week. See the flyer below for information.
We will continue the new tradition of the Powderpuff Men’s Volleyball game. This will be held Tuesday afternoon during school hours. On Oct. 6th, the annual Thursday Night Rally will take place at the FHS stadium beginning at 6:30 p.m. During the Thursday Night Rally we will have the Powderpuff Football games with each grade. Other events occurring at the Rally will be a cheerleader performance, the crowning of the King and Queen at approximately 8:00 p.m., the torch run, a pep talk from Coach Steve Miller, and a bonfire.
On Friday, Oct. 7th, we will have the Homecoming Parade. Keeping the spirit of ONE FAIRFIELD, we are going to include the other schools. The parade will start at the high school, turn south onto B street (go past Washington Elementary), turn west onto Fillmore (go past the Middle School), turn north onto 6th street (go past Pence Elementary) and then the parade will weave its way back to the square. Back at the square at about 2:30 p.m, the band and cheerleaders will perform, the candy, baby picture, and float contest winners will be announced, and a pep talk from Mr. Edgeton will occur.
On Friday evening, there WILL NOT be a 9th grade game due to Ft. Madison having low numbers. The Varsity Football team will be playing against conference team, the Ft. Madison Bloodhounds. The Varsity Football game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. (Note the time change). The homecoming festivities will conclude with a dance in the HS on Friday night from 9:00pm until midnight with Purple Star Entertainment at the D.J. GO TROJANS!!
Students in Mr. Dorman's Sociology class recently had Dr. Noll as a guest speaker, talking about the 40 Developmental Assets. Students talked about how to help others acquire assets to become more well-rounded students and citizens. The class members are producing a newsletter that discusses these assets, and will be sharing that newsletter with the entire district.
