Buddies are Beautiful!
by Sue McCracken
Need help writing a story? Ask your buddy for help. How about working together on a computer project? A buddy will be glad to assist you. Kindergarten students work with third graders, first graders pair up with fourth graders, and fifth and second graders collaborate on different projects and reading time.
During a recent first and fourth buddy time, students were working to create their own version of an Eric Carle book after reading some of his exciting adventures. With the help of computer instructor Tricia Slechta and teachers Carol Wells and Sheryl Greiner, the students were busy as bees trying to decide how to modify the original stories to generate their very own tales.
Whether it's reading together, learning about character traits, going on field trips, doing Earth Day activities, or just walking hand in hand down the hall, buddies truly are a beautiful part of school life at Libertyville School!
